Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. | John F. Kennedy
I am from Botetourt, VA. I studied at Virginia Western Community College for secondary social science education. In 2019, I completed a Bachelor’s degree at Radford University in Social Sciences, with a concentration in History and a minor in Political Science. I re-entered the world of teaching by beginning my graduate studies at Hollins University in the Fall of 2020, graduating in May of 2023.
My graduate studies included:
Pedagogy & Developmental psychology
Integration of technology into the classroom
Meeting reading levels and other forms of differentiation
Learner diversity & disabilities
World geography
Western military history
Frequent lesson planning including backward design and project-based assessments
As a Los Angeles native, I recognized many issues within my early education as well as that of my peers. I developed a strong awareness of poverty, inequity, and other realities that hinder the growth of many young learners in the U.S. Studying social sciences has created a sense of advocacy for others within me. I hope that through teaching, I can inspire students to become thoughtful citizens who change the world for the better. I was lucky enough to complete my student teaching placement in the spring of 2023 with a diverse population of students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
Other passions of mine include playing guitar, singing, creating portrait art, working hard as a pharmacy technician, and watching Star Trek with my cat.
